OVERCOME

My father is so gracious. It is by His grace that I'm able to do this write up and by his grace that you are reading it. His grace is unending no matter what we do and I think that is reason some of us tend to abuse it. Let me give an illustration " imagine you are in a relationship (single people😉) and your partner cheats on you. I'm sure most of us will end the relationship then and there. But let's just say you decide to forgive and you get back together, after  some months of being "faithful" to earn back the trust they've lost, they end up cheating again. How would you feel and react?"

That's how I want you to see your relationship with God now. One interesting thing about God is that before you even "cheat" on him, forgiveness has been made available. But will you because of that grace keep on cheating at every chance you get?  You see the moment we accept Jesus as Lord in our lives, we become dead to sin. And we start to fulfill the will of our Lord. But the fact that we keep on going back to the things we claim that we are dead to, just shows who and what is Lord in our life. And in a way we are kind of mocking the sacrifice of Jesus. Are you trying to tell him that his death is not enough for you to stop living in sin?

Oh I'm not saying it is easy, trust me I know it isn't. That's why you don't need to rely on yourself or your strength. Ask God for help, he understands everything that you are going through because he felt everything and his death and resurrection is enough prove that you can overcome it as well. 

Sin has a way of making you think that you can't do without it but let me tell you now that SIN HAS NO POWER OVER YOU. YOU CAN OVERCOME IT (Inserts I have overcome the world by Pastor Iren)

So, let us give ourselves COMPLETELY to God and his will. Trust me, it is not boring, don't make the world let you feel like it is. If you're struggling with this and you're reading this blog now make this your confession: Sin has no power over me. I died and was buried with Christ by baptism. And just as He was crucified, my old self has been crucified. I have a new life in me. I reckon that while I was in the world, I had picked up different ways of thinking, a funny approach to life that does not reflect who I have become, but I lay it aside. I commit to schooling my mind, to presenting my mind before the word and the influence of the spirit and allowing the Holy ghost to change the way I think. I look like Christ daily.

Whenever you find yourself trying to go back, just say those words, listen to OVERCOME BY PASTOR IREN and read ROMANS 6. 

 

Asides the confession,  recognize those things that trigger you and find ways to stop them with the help of the holy Spirit. The first step is being honest with yourself. Ask yourself these questions and make the decision to do better. Is it your playlist? Change it. Social media? Start unfollowing and following new people that will help you. Friends? Let them know where you stand and if they are not ready to understand, you might start to think of changing your circle. But don't fight or be rude with them. Be intentional about it and record your growth.  Yes, God's grace is more than sufficient. Oh He will forgive you but please DO NOT ABUSE IT. DON'T INSULT GOD. 

The race is not easy but it the grace of God, we have the capacity, we will run the race well and make our Daddy proud.
